Kirstenbosch Garden Fair and Plant Sale

April 19, 2013

botsocHere’s a fabulous opportunity to pick up some interesting and unusual plants to liven up our gardens as we move into autumn. This weekend from 09h00 to 16h00 each day the Kirstenbosch Branch of the Botanical Society of South Africa is staging the 38th Annual Kirstenbosch Garden Fair and Plant Sale.

The sale will be held by the Stone Cottages, on the corner of Rhodes and Kirstenbosch Drives, opposite the main entrance to the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.

This annual fundraising event supports Kirstenbosch development projects and is a showcase for South Africa’s indigenous flora. Plants have been specifically grown to offer gardeners a unique opportunity to acquire a wide range of indigenous rare and unusual species.

On offer will be more than 500 species of trees, proteas, shrubs, buchus, herbaceous perennials, succulents, ericas, restios, bulbs and cycads. A true gardener’s dream!

Refreshments will be served in the Tea Garden under the oak trees and there will be musical performances to enjoy each day. Or you can bring your own picnic to eat in these stunning surroundings.

The entrance fee of R5 goes to the Kirstenbosch Partnership Fund (children under 12 free).
