Western Cape Artists’ Society Exhibition – Part 2

June 22, 2013

Our latest exhibition opened last week – what a fabulous event!  We must have had almost 100 people packed into the new Imibala Gallery in Bright Street, Somerset West.

There was a real buzz to the opening, with members and guests chatting away and really interacting with the artists and their art.

Leslie Downie, the Gallery Director was on hand – and busy filling wine glasses – and Leo van Straten, Imibala’s Artistic Director, gave a fascinating opening speech on the characteristics of creative people, which struck a chord with many of his audience.

And we were busy with sales.  Red stickers went on eight of the artworks during the opening which was hugely encouraging.

Over the past week we have had a lot of interest in the exhibition, although no further sales, which is a shame.  However, there is no doubt that the exhibition has raised the profile of the Western Cape Artists’ Society and shown what an attractive space the Imibala Gallery is.
