Even guest house owners get a holiday sometime!

July 13, 2013

We really did need a rest after the recent Western Cape Artists’ Society exhibition and the delight of having two lots of family staying with us here at Penny Lane Lodge.  So, leaving the place in the capable hands of my assistant, we took off for a few days to Sussi Lodge, near Victoria Falls in Zambia.

It was just a short break, but what a wonderful time we had!  The manager, Arnauld, and his team made us feel really at home.  The accommodation was so comfortable with a beautiful view of the Zambezi from our private deck and the food was simply wonderful.  Made from the freshest ingredients and superbly presented and served by our waitrons.  We don’t have huge appetites, but we forced ourselves!

The game drives and river cruises were stunning, and I even managed to catch a fish.  We really enjoyed our trip to Victoria Falls, including the helicopter flight over the Falls (once we got over our nerves).  I took piles and piles of photographs which I know will give me inspiration to paint and paint.  Really looking forward to getting back into my gallery now.
