Hermanus Fynarts

June 6, 2014

Today I’m attending the opening of the Barrel Head exhibition which is being held in the cellar of the Bouchard Finlayson Boutique Winery in Walker Bay, as one of the 40 finalists in the Tollman Bouchard Finlayson Art Award 2014 Tondo Competion.

On the edge

This is the painting which was selected for the exhibition: ‘Zambezi: on the edge, Victoria Falls’.  This painting was inspired by a visit to Zambia two years ago when we stayed at the fabulous Sussi Lodge on the banks of the Zambezi river.

The exhibition is part of Hermanus Fynarts, a wide-ranging fair of visual arts, literature, music, food and wine, which runs from 6 to 16 June 2014. Hosted in a number of different venues, this creative extravaganza will transform the quaint coastal town of Hermanus – better known as South Africa’s whale-watching captial – into a stimulating hub of exhibitions (featuring painting, sculpture, ceramics and photography), classic and contemporary music and tasty, award-winning food and wines.

So, a busy weekend ahead and lots to see before we return home to Penny Lane Lodge. And there’s no doubt that I’ll be inspired to paint up a storm next week in my newly-refurbished studio and gallery.
